Nathaniel Hawthornes novel The Scarlet Letter deals with a wastefulness of issues not precisely prominent when the story was written gain ground also prominent today. Some issues being: ill-doing, corruption in society, guilt, revenge, hypocrisy and, above all authentic statement. Hawthorne himself addresses the reader in saying, Be true! Be true!
